Macerated Strawberries
Macerated means - soften or become softened by soaking in a liquid
This recipe makes 12 thick slices, so we only made 6 slices for 2 people.

Taste Test
This dish should be served immediately because it gets soggy fast. The strawberries do balance out the richness of the nutella so do make sure you have them in every bite! An overall amazing dish. I will remember to keep the slices thinner next time (not 1 1/4 inch!!) because this is really VERY FILLINGGGGGG.

- 1 1/2 Tbsp granulated sugar

Macerated Strawberries
Macerated means - soften or become softened by soaking in a liquid
- 1 1/2 lbs (680g) strawberries
- 3 Tbsp granulated sugar
This recipe makes 12 thick slices, so we only made 6 slices for 2 people.
Instructions
Prepare the macerated strawberries first:
- In a bowl, toss together diced strawberries and sugar and let rest at room temperature for 30 minutes. Store in refrigerator.
For the Nutella French Toast:
- Preheat an electric griddle to 350 - 375 degrees (we didn't have one, so we just used a non-stick pan). Slice bread using a serrated knife into 1 1/4 - inch slices (this is too thick, so it will be better if it is 1 inch or slightly lesser). Cut through the centre of each slice (as if butterflying a chicken breast) keeping the end attached. Spread a slightly heaping tablespoon of Nutella inside centre of each slice, spread evenly, making sure it spreads to entire slice. You can use the spoon to remove any excess from the closed sandwich if its overflowing. Set aside.
- To a blender, add milk, cream, eggs, vanilla, granulated sugar, flour, baking powder and cinnamon. Blend on low speed, about 10 seconds until well combined. Pour into a shallow dish. Dip each side of french toast into egg mixture allowing a few seconds for it to soak up some the mixture. Be careful not to submerge the Nutella spread centre. Butter pan (around half a spoon of butter) just before transferring soaked bread onto the pan (so that the butter doesn't burn, burnt butter turns dark brown). Cook stuffed french toast until golden brown on bottom (about 2 minutes on medium heat), then lift, butter pan once more and flip to opposite side and cook until golden brown. Serve immediately dusted with powdered sugar (in a small sift) and topped with macerated strawberries.
